Our client is looking for a Digital Systems Design Engineer to join their team in Hampshire.

Our Client is a world leader in design and manufacture of electronics products for supply internationally to the communications, defence and government industries.

The company is continuing to expand; building upon the significant commercial success achieved to date, and now needs to appoint a Digital Systems Design Engineer to meet the increased level of project work.

Primary roles:
-Implementation of high-speed signal processing designs in FPGA
-Signal processing architecture development
-Formulating hardware and development timescale estimates

Successful candidate will have/be:
* Degree qualified or equivalent
* Post-graduate experience, preferably in communications and/or defence systems design.
* Experience in most of the following areas:
- High-speed FPGA design using VHDL (Xilinx and/or Altera)
- VHDL simulation (ModelSim)
- VHDL synthesis for FPGA (any of Mentor, Synplicity, XST, Quartus, etc)
- Hardware/board design
- Embedded processors (NIOS/NIOS-II, MicroBlaze/PicoBlaze, Xilinx PowerPC)

A working knowledge of one or more of the following areas would also be an advantage:

- Matlab
- Signal processing algorithms and architectures (FFT, filterbanks, multirate filtering, image processing).
- Physical layer communications (modulation/demodulation, equalisation, coding/decoding, satcoms, mobile)
- Defence systems (radar, sonar, SIGINT, EW).

The position requires very close working with the commercial and the engineering teams; consequently, the candidate must have the knowledge and the interpersonal skills to be able to fit into a focussed group of people.
Due to the nature of the work undertaken by the company, it will be necessary for candidates to obtain or already have UK security clearance. In order to get this, candidate must have lived in the UK for 3 of the last 5 years.

Salary is between 28,000-32,000 per annum DOE.
