We are looking for a Support Worker to work with Sophie, a teenage girl who is currently studying for her A levels. Sophie had a serious accident which has left her with a brain injury. Although not physically disabled, she does suffer from fatigue and has problems with memory/concentration which make school work difficult at times. Sophies social development is very important to her and her family and she often needs encouragement to be independent and engage in new activities.
Sophie and her mother live in Oxford, within a 10 minute walk of Oxford Brookes campus and they are keen to find a Support Worker that will act as a mentor/coach/friend on an ongoing basis. This position would be particularly suitable for students in their final or post graduate year. Sophie studies History, Philosophy and Psychology, experience in these subjects would also be advantageous but not essential.
Hours will be be part-time - after school and at weekends, but will probably increase in school holidays. You will be required to undertake a CRB check for this role.
