We are looking for an outstanding Head Chef to recruit, lead and inspire a brand new kitchen team, to operate at Oxfords Ashmolean Museum.
THE VENUE:
The Ashmolean Dining Room will be one of the best dining experiences in Oxford. This ambitious project, on the roof of the Ashmolean Museum, aims to become a favourite with locals as well as a must for visitors to Oxford. An all day menu will be made up of regional European inspired dishes using locally sourced ingredients.
In addition we aim to establish the venue as Oxfords leading events space, catering for weddings and corporate events as well as the museums own prestigious gallery openings and high profile events.
THE ROLE:
To take charge of the kitchen brigade in a 7 day lunch and dinner operation with an 80 seat inside restaurant and a 60 cover outside summer terrace serving modern British and European dishes, we are looking to recruit an inventive & innovative head chef to run our brand new kitchen and ideally to be appointed by late summer 2009.
THE PERSON:
You MUST be creative and ambitious with a passion for food, a flair for presentation and a hunger to make the new restaurant an amazing dining experience.
You should have experience of stock control, menu planning and placing orders, you will also need to demonstrate leadership proficiency, organisational capabilities and first-class delegation skills. You will need to be passionate, creative, come from a well established background with a sound knowledge of classic cooking, a keen eye for detail, food quality and standards.
The ideal candidate will build his/her own team, lead by example and a signature mark on menus.
First class knowledge of health and safety and food hygiene regulations is a must as is experience in running events (canaps reception/diners) food costing and researching/ appointing local suppliers and producers. An advanced food hygiene qualification is desirable
A high level of spoken English, good communication skills and immaculate presentation are essential.
A valid EU work permit or passport is vital and must be produced during the preliminary interview and before any position can be offered.
