What is the NBYL?
The NBYL has been set up by the government to increase the number and quality of leadership opportunities for young people. It aims to encourage a culture where young people are welcomed as leaders of change. A consortium of seven organisations are leading and delivering on the NBYL.
What are the NBYL volunteer internships?
The NBYL consortium is looking for 10 enthusiastic young people to work on a range of exciting projects across England. You will be based at one of the consortium organisations for 3 months, where you will have the opportunity to work on key projects, meet a wide range of people and gain a valuable work experience.
Who are the consortium partners?
The consortium is made up of Changemakers, Princes Trust, British Youth Council, UK Youth Parliament, Citizenship Foundation, the National Youth Agency and Young Foundation.
A NBYL volunteer internship can provide you with:
an insight into both the NBYL and working in the charity sector
a chance a make a real difference to the NBYL and the consortium organisation
a hands on experience
workplace skills
an opportunity to develop both personally and professionally
In addition, we can offer NBYL volunteer interns:
travel and lunch expenses not exceeding 60 per week/12 per day
training and networking opportunities
supervision and support throughout the volunteer internship
reference on completion of the volunteer internship
To apply you must meet the following criteria:
be 16-19 years old
be available for three months
be IT literate
be committed to both the NBYL and consortium organisations vision

Applications are now open for the NBYL Volunteer Internship scheme. The scheme will run between Monday 6 July and Friday 25 September 2009. Key dates
The scheme will run between Monday 6 July Friday 25 September 2009.
Deadline for applications is Friday 12 June.
You will be notified about the outcome of your application by Friday 17 June.
Interviews will be held between Friday 19 June Friday 26 June.
An induction day for all volunteer interns will be held on Monday 6 July 2009.
