We are looking for an organised nanny for J aged 18m and her brother A 3 and a half. A has a rare condition called Familial Exudative Vitreo Retinopathy which means that his vision is severely impaired. He does not have detailed vision and his visual acuity is estimated to be less than 10% of normal, so he is registered blind. That said he does have some very useful vision is amazingly confident and able at getting around, even in unfamiliar places.

He is bright and currently thriving at nursery interacting with other children - he has a huge zest for life and loves physical activity such as trampolining and going to the park. He is a confident talker and relates well to adults and children he knows well. He enjoys small world play although tasks requiring detailed vision fine motor skills are difficult for him, so he can sometimes gets frustrated. He has sufficient vision to enjoy watching some children's DVD's (ones with clear pictures).

A will go to a mainstream school and will have extra support to help him access the full curriculum. In September 2009, A will start at a state pre-school. The nanny will help to provide the best possible preparation for school for A. J has no special needs and is also thriving. She was an early walker and is already quite a fast runner! Her language skills are developing well. She understands a lot of what is said to her and can clearly answer yes or no when asked a question. She is very inquisitive and enjoys puzzles and drawing. She loves her older brother, although it can be difficult at times when they both want to play with the same toys! They enjoy giving each other kisses and snuggles. The nanny will need to watch A carefully to ensure he is safe, but at the same time he needs to be encouraged to be as independent as possible. A can get frustrated and needs to have someone who is sensitive to his changing needs
