SEN Secondary TA: Job Details Hays Educationare looking for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work inaMainstream Secondary school tosupport children with Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties and challenging behaviour from Years 11 to 18.

The right candidate for this position will be a person who is calm, has a presence and the ability to handle potentially difficult situations whilst retaining a sense of humour. You will need to be able to use your initiative and be flexible. Your primary focus will be to maintain good order within the class and keep pupils on task. Previous experience of working with children with BED/challenging behaviour in an educational environment is essential. You will also be confident in your knowledge of core subjects (English, Maths and Science).
A specialist subject would be of an advantage.





Duties will include:



- Assisting with the development and implementation of Imps and working with the teacher to provide objective and accurate feedback reports.
- Establishing productive working relationships with pupils and acting as a role model for them.
- Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom.
- Supporting pupils consistently whilst responding to their individual needs.
- Encouraging pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engaging all pupils in activities.
- Promoting independence and employing strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self reliance.
- Providing feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement.
- Working with the teacher to establish an appropriate learning environment.
- Promoting positive values, attitudes and good pupil behaviour.
- Dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
- Liaising sensitively and effectively with parents/carers as agreed with the teacher within your role/responsibility and participating in feedback sessions/meetings with parents/carers.
- Supervising pupils on visits and trips out of school as required.
- Working constructively as part of a team.
- Previous experience of working with students with BED in an educational setting
Essential Requirements:

- Previous experience of working with students with BED/challenging behaviourin an educational setting
