We are looking for Qualified Social Workers to join an established and cohesive team, committed to promoting the welfare of children by working in partnership with families and other agencies to ensure that children are safeguarded.

Our client is currently seeking a self motivated, hard working Qualified Social Workers to join their young peoples and children's department. Ideally candidates will have a minimum 18months working knowledge within children and families settings, with preferably experience of court work, although candidates with less but fully relevant experience will also be considered.

This role is part of local authority with a reputation for paying above the industry standard.

The successful candidate will be working with individual service users, undertaking assessments in line with the Assessment Framework and other relevant local and national guidance, including that for looked after children and young people, providing advice, assistance, counselling and other forms of personal assistance with the aim of enhancing and/or protecting individual welfare. Support can be offered in house and training opportunities may well be available.

You will also be required to deal with initial referrals and write initial and core assessments showing the customers progress. Plan support and execute various care plans and packages to make the service users lives as comfortable as possible.

Knowledge of child care legislation including the Children Act 1989 and associated guidance and regulations
Theory and practice of child care planning
Able to interview children and families
Good written and oral communication skills
Able to organise and prioritise own work
Able to operate within a multi-disciplinary setting
Able to carry out child in need assessments.

The successful candidate will need to hold a DipSW or equivalent must be registered with the GSCC, have a current CRB and be a car driver. The post is looking to run for a minimum 6 months and could well move to a temp-to-perm contract. Pay rates are negotiable based on experience and availability.
