The Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Placement Consultancy are acting as an employment agency on behalf of one of our clients based in the Birmingham area.
The Purpose of the the role is to manage and take ownership of engineering tasks associated with New Product Introductions from conceptual design through to production, testing and customer handover to ensure completion within agreed timescales and to the required quality standard.
Duties / Responsibilities include:
Handling projects from concept to completion.
Responsible for all prototyping and preliminary builds of new products
Identify and source new technology and suppliers.
Manage trials from trial planning stage through to completion and presentation of data.
Ensure effective communication with customers, project team members and suppliers, by chairing weekly project meetings.
Responsible for monitoring progress against project schedules to meet milestones and controlling costs against budget.
Dealing with costing and negotiation.
Suggest and review opportunity for estimating improvement / modification
Ensure estimates comply with company objectives and business targets.
Interact with different internal and external constituents, including other manufacturers.
Purchasing tooling, gauges and capital equipment within timing and budget targets.
Administering new product introduction process to ensure program needs are achieved.
Candidate Requirements
Minimum of 5 years experience in project engineering.
Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering solutions, including materials, finishes and heat-treatments
Good understanding of prototyping, manufacturing processes and costing
Customer facing, commercial awareness
Dealing with customers.
Proficient knowledge of 3D software
Excellent communication skills
Proven problem solving and decision making abilities.
Good project management ability
Ambitious and focused on delivery of high standard especially with respect to customer service
Ability to influence, gain acceptance and maintain support from key stakeholders.
